I love a refreshing lemonade during a backyard barbecue or grilling party. The problem is, sometimes I end up with heartburn with all of the spicy and acidic foods I like to indulge in during summertime. This ginger turmeric lemonade recipe is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy while helping balance out the gut. Keep scrolling for my summertime ginger turmeric lemonade – plus other lower acid food swaps you can try this summer!

My husband and son get acid indigestion and heartburn regularly. It often makes it harder for us to dine out or enjoy our favorite cookout foods without feeling the after-effects. I’ve partnered with Boiron, the world leader in homeopathic medicines, for this sponsored post. Boiron is my favorite homeopathic company and I am so excited to share their best-seller, Acidil, along with some lower acid food swaps so that you can BBQ without the burn!

What is Acidil?

We always have Acidil Tablets at an arm’s reach, especially when we are celebrating with family and friends enjoying our favorite summer meals.

Acidil Meltaway Tablets dissolve in the mouth, so you don’t need to take it with water or food. Just pop them in your mouth without having to step away from a great barbecue. Acidil’s plant-powered ingredients help relieve occasional acid indigestion, bloating, heartburn and upset stomach.*

* Claims based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence. Not FDA evaluated.

Lower Acid Food Swaps

Here are some lower acid food swaps for some of the most popular BBQ ingredients. Paired with Acidil, you are less likely to get the churn and burn you might feel after enjoying a bowl of chili or your favorite bbq dish. These lower acid food swaps can help keep acid levels at bay:

  • Honey instead of sugar
  • Almond milk instead of dairy milk
  • Spelt flour instead of regular flour
  • Grape seed oil instead of vegetable oil
  • Goat or sheep milk cheese instead of cow milk cheese
  • Ginger, turmeric and black pepper instead of other spicy spices
