How to Remove Labels From Glass

If you’ve ever tried to re-purpose or re-use glass bottles and containers, you might have found how annoying those stickers and labels can be to get off. Whether it is the residue or the part that just won’t come off, it can be frustrating. Here is how to remove labels from glass containers such as jars and bottles to reuse them for other stuff! Put glass to use for other things!

Follow these steps below to remove labels from glass containers:

  1. First, you want to try to remove the labels as much as you can by hand. No need to pick off the tiny pieces but maybe try peeling off one big piece to start.
  2. Then, use a drain stopper to fill up your kitchen sink with hot water, adding 1/3 cup baking soda, 2 cups white vinegar and 2 pumps of dish soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s castile soap). Make sure each bottle is fully submerged under water.
  3. Let it soak for 1-2 hours. Remove the bottles and empty any water that may be trapped inside.
  4. The rest of the labels should peel right off! And if it doesn’t, use our recipe for DIY Goo Gone to remove the rest.
