Homemade Dry Shampoo

This post will explain how you can make homemade dry shampoo for light or dark hair. It is all natural too! Store-bought dry shampoos can be really unhealthy and often contain tons of chemicals. Not to mention, they can be really expensive!

Here is a recipe for making your own all natural dry shampoo with ingredients that you can find around your kitchen. It lasts for a long time and works great!

Homemade Dry Shampoo

For Light Colored Hair

Ingredients:

  1. A container (I used these empty salt and pepper shakers which made it easy to shake onto my hair)
  2. Equal parts cornstarch and baking soda
  3. 5-10 drops of essential oils – I use rosemary essential oil or lavender because they are great for hair and scalp health!

Directions:

  1. Mix the ingredients in a small bowl and transfer into your container.
  2. Shake, brush or sprinkle your dry shampoo onto your scalp and brush through to ends.

For Dark Colored Hair

Ingredients:

  1. A container
  2. Equal parts cornstarch and unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1 tbsp baking soda
  4. 5-10 drops of essential oils (again, I like lavender and rosemary)

Directions:

  1. Mix the ingredients in a small bowl and transfer into your container.
  2. Shake, brush or sprinkle your dry shampoo onto your scalp and brush through to ends.

You can use your extra cornstarch and baking soda and make your own deodorant too!
