How to Highlight Your Hair Naturally

Here is how you can highlight your hair naturally if you are on a tight budget or looking for a natural alternative to chemicals and synthetic dyes. Let’s face it, getting our hair done gets expensive and those chemicals aren’t the best for us. I have tried this before and it worked so well for me!

This is more than just a modern day sun in. It is made with all natural ingredients and is dirt cheap to make. Think about your preteen or teen who may be starting to want to get their hair done. This is the perfect starter spray for them before stepping into the beauty salon for some hair dye or highlights.

Here is a how to highlight your hair naturally:

Make your own hair lightener spray:

  1. Combine 1 cup distilled water with 15 drops Citrus Fresh (a blend of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, mandarin and spearmint essential oils) in a glass spray bottle.
  2. Shake before each use. Just spray it throughout your hair when you are spending time out in the sun to naturally lighten your hair!
  • Notes – For darker hair, if you apply too much at once you may end up with brassy tones.
  • Use a glass spray bottle because citrus oils can eat away at plastic (they are simply doing their job by trying to get rid of the chemicals).

Buy natural hair lightening spray and hair care:

If you aren’t feeling up to making your own or might be skeptical to try it on your hair, here are some products from Sun Bum that I really like for blonde hair care:

  1. Hair Lightening Spray
  2. Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner
