Gels, latex, foams and many other mattress materials contain toxic chemicals that often off-gas, causing us to breathe in many of these toxins.

Most mattresses out there may be worsening those with allergies and asthma due to the toxic fumes it may produce.

Since my son has asthma, I am speaking from experience. Before he was diagnosed with asthma, he had a horrible hacking cough every night. Since his diagnosis, we have been diligent in making his room as asthma-friendly as possible. It is worth every penny to switch from a conventional mattress to a non-toxic one.

I strongly believe my son’s new non-toxic mattress has helped his asthma symptoms tremendously, especially at night.

Be Cautious of “Natural” Labels

Be careful though, because sometimes these “organic” and “natural” mattresses aren’t as healthy as they sound. Do your research about the mattress and company you are planning to buy from.

Here are two of my favorite non-toxic mattresses that I recommend:

This is the one we have for our son with asthma. It is firm, but it sure is comfy and soft. It is worth every penny and we plan to make use of this mattress for many years to come. It also has a wonderful warranty and is made in the USA. Win win!
